Halfway up the very steep John Muir trail in Yosemite National Park. It was about 2pm on this brisk and beautiful January afternoon when I stopped to catch my breath. In that moment I overlooked a valley of trees engulfing the Merced River Canyon and caught the sun poking through the tree tops. I snapped 2 photos in an attempt to recreate what I was seeing and continued on with my hike. One of my favorite memories of my first trip to that magical place.
